JOB SUMMARY
The Sales Director will be responsible for developing and executing plans to obtain new business and support existing customers in targeted focused markets (Institutional Food Service, Retail Grocery, Food Service, Co-packers, etc.) All targeted new business should fall within the scope of current manufacturing capabilities and return acceptable profitability. Applicants do not have to live in GA, this is a remote regional role. Salary: $120k + bonus, negotiable BOE.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- This position requires the ability to develop and execute market plans based on complex or diverse information; the ability to collect and research data; and to use intuition and experience to successfully define and capture new business opportunities through direct and indirect selling efforts.
- This position requires strong analytical skills with the ability to analyze, target, and close opportunities from both a market and customer perspective.
- This position routinely interfaces with Marketing, Manufacturing, Technical, and Customers
- Position will support other departments in order to ensure customer satisfaction to maximize growth opportunities.
- Sales Management responsibilities:
- Provide the necessary direction and support to 3rd party Sales Representatives to enable them to generate market leads and close new deals.
- Supporting Sales Representatives territory requirements through quoting, providing product knowledge and other resources as needed.
- Working with Sales Representatives to develop realistic annual sales plans; holding them accountable to achieving these objectives.
- Position will call on and support specific key accounts:
- Ensuring customers abide by terms and conditions of our agreements, including payment terms and inventory policies.
- Co-ordinate artwork, specifications, and film testing, where applicable.
- Manage customer relationship at various levels of the customer organization.
- Understand the customer’s business needs, keeping them aware of new products or services and where appropriate, initiate the development of new products to meet the customer’s needs.
- Responsible for the development of new accounts:
- Qualify potential customers including cold calling, in person, telephone, e-mail.
- Work closely with Marketing Department to develop Account Based Marketing campaigns which target specific market segments.
- Using various research techniques (web searches, trade associations, customer interactions, etc.), locate new customer opportunities or market segments which are in line with the Company’s capabilities.
- Other Duties:
- Participate in annual sales forecast, participate in the development and implementation of sales and marketing plans for accounts in their market(s).
- Prepare sales presentations for customers.
- Input and maintain pipeline data, customer interaction and other information in CRM tool.
- When requested, attend and work in booth at trade shows and conventions.
- Responsible for ensuring that the organization is kept informed of customer and market conditions.
- Maintaining confidentiality of all applicable Preferred Packaging and customer information.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Experience:
- BS/BA degree and Business Development/experience in the Flexible Packaging industry.
- The ideal candidate will have a working knowledge of internal manufacturing capabilities including printing, laminating, and slitting processes.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills and demonstrates attention to detail.
Skills:
- Ability to analyze, and interpret technical journals, technical data sheets, and market journals.
- A very strong quantitative, analytical, and logical approach to managing data.
- Ability to respond to inquiries and complaints from customers in both oral and written form.
- Must possess the skills necessary to question, discuss, listen, and present the company’s products to current and potential customers.
- Excellent relationship-building skills
- Ability to apply mathematical calculations, for pricing, sampling, and analytical purposes.
- Reasoning abilities to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Proficient computer skills, with strong proficiency in MS Office Suite for customer correspondence and internal communications, as well as sales analysis.
Work Environment:
- The position requires 40% - 75% travel by car and airplane.
- Weekly scheduled travel with the flexibility to travel on short notice.
- Overnight travel is required.
- Sales are in a business-to-business setting, which may require time spent in a manufacturing environment.
- Must adhere to all safety requirements of Preferred Packaging when on-site/in the plant, as well as the safety regulations of all customer facilities when on-site.
- Office duties and responsibilities will be performed predominantly from a home office.
