Description

Job Summary:

To produce excellent quality bags going to The Customer, following guidelines, provided by The Customer and to meet efficiency targets with minimal waste.

Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities:

  • Load rolls of material on to the bag making machine
  • Adjust machine for efficiencies and quality
  • Record daily production
  • Enter finished goods into the system
  • Responsible for own work plus co-ordinates the work of others, but without supervisory responsibilities.   Other responsibilities include;
  • Run machine and fine tune
  • Checking score mark positions, drum finger pressure, position of drum finger, back clamp opening cam, cut-off speed, print movement
  • Set timing on gripper release cam, set tail bar timing, draw rollers, forwarding rollers, score blades, gusset wheels, P.I.V. for proper length
  • Set-up liner and laminator, bag carrier
  • Quality check
  • Production report
  • Make bags by hand
  • Understanding the concepts of Lamination
  • Complete tasks in adequate time limits, as to meet daily goal and schedule needs.
  • Complies with all general Company-wide standard operating procedures (SOP’s) and any job or department specific SOP’s.
    • SOP’s may cover the areas of (but are not limited to)
      • Employee Health and Safety
      • SQF (Safe Quality Food packager) and GMP (good manufacturing procedures) focused on eliminating contaminates in all packaging manufactured.
      • SGP (Sustainable Green Printer) environmental regulatory procedures and SOP’s
  • Must work within productivity standards and completes work
  • Special Projects & other duties as necessary

  • Ability to work well in a team environment.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to maintain confidentiality of information to Company and Federal standards.
  • Must be able to adapt to changes in the work environment, manage competing demands and be able to deal with frequent change, delays or unexpected events.
  • Must be dependable and work within Company conduct standards; consistently at work and on time, follows instructions, responds to management direction and solicits feedback to improve performance.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with crew members and supervision, and delegate tasks accordingly.

Physical Demands:

  • Frequent lifting of 40 lbs avg.
  • Continuous standing
  • Very little sitting
  • Twisting – slightly
  • Back movement – constantly, continuous motion
  • Carrying – frequent, regular motion with pauses
  • Pulling –  on occasion, regular motion with pauses
  • Pushing – rare, regular motion with pauses
  • Ladder and stair climbing – frequent, regular motion with pauses, up to a maximum of 4 steps.

Working Conditions:

  • Concrete floors
  • Exposure to solvents during wash-ups– with use of proper PPE (minimal)
  • Noise – mandatory use of appropriate PPE
  • Ability to work in a non-air conditioned environment: hot conditions during summer months and cool conditions during winter months. (consistently)
  • Follow all safety regulations and rules at all times, including wearing all required personal protective equipment (PPE):
    • Steel tip boots or shoes
    • Gloves
    • Back Belt
    • Hearing protection
    • Safety glasses
    • Cut resistant gloves/solvent gloves
    • Hairnets and beard nets

Environment:

  • Concrete floors

Mental Effort Requirements:

  • Ability to keep pace with machine
