Job Summary: This is a remote position. The Product manager will lead the strategic vision, development roadmap, and commercialization efforts for a portfolio of flexible packaging solutions ensuring strong alignment with overall business objectives and evolving market needs. This role is responsible for translating customer insights, competitive dynamics, and industry trends into actionable product strategies that drive innovation and differentiation.
Working cross-functionally with R&D, Sales, Operations, Finance, and other departments, the Product Manager will guide products from concept through launch and lifecycle management. The Product Manager will identify growth opportunities, optimize portfolio performance, and support go-to-market strategies to maximize revenue and profitability. Additionally, this role will play a key part in prioritizing investments, refining value propositions, and ensuring that product offerings meet both customer expectations and business targets.
This is a remote role with travel up to 15%.
Essential Job Functions:
Product Strategy & Roadmap
- Define a clear long-term vision for the product portfolio aligned with company growth targets and customer needs
- Build, maintain, and communicate detailed product roadmaps
- Evaluate new market segments and identify opportunities for expansion
- Develop business cases for new product initiatives
- Continuously assess portfolio performance and adjust strategy based on market shifts and internal capabilities
Market & Customer Insights
- Conduct in-depth market research including industry reports, customer feedback, and competitive benchmarking
- Engage alongside the Commercial team with customers and brand owners to understand unmet needs and emerging challenges
- Analyze trends in sustainability regulations, consumer preferences, material innovations, and more
- Translate insights into actionable product requirements, specifications, and differentiators
- Partner with the Commercial team to gather field intelligence and validate product-market fit
Product Development
- Lead cross-functional product development initiatives from ideation through commercialization
- Collaborate with R&D and Technical on material selection, structural design, and performance testing
- Define product specifications, performance criteria, and acceptance standards
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Serve as the central point of coordination across departments including Marketing, Commercial, Technical, Operations, Supply Chain, and Quality
- Translate technical product details into clear value propositions and sales tools
- Support key customer engagements including presentations and joint development projects
Lifecycle Management
- Own the full product lifecycle from launch to end-of-life ensuring sustained profitability and relevance
- Monitor product performance such as revenue, margin, volume, and customer adoption
- Lead SKU rationalization efforts to streamline the portfolio and reduce operational complexity
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives including quality enhancements, performance upgrades, and cost reduction
Sustainability & Compliance
- Stay current with global and regional regulations
- Collaborate alongside the Commercial team with customers to meet sustainability commitments and certifications
Commercialization & Go-to-Market Execution
- Develop and execute go-to-market strategies for new product launches
- Create positioning, messaging, and promotional material content concepts
- Train the Commercial team on product features, benefits, and target applications
Data Analysis & Reporting
- Analyze sales data, market trends, and operational metrics to inform decision-making
- Use data to identify risks, opportunities, and areas for optimization
Skills and Knowledge:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Packaging Science, Food Science, or related field
- 3-5 years of product management experience, preferably in flexible packaging or food packaging
- Strong understanding of the fresh produce industry highly desired
- Analytical, data-driven, and able to translate insights into actionable strategies
- Proven track record of creating robust business cases that translate into business decisions
- Experience leading cross-functional teams and managing product lifecycles
- Strong interpersonal and influencing skills able to interact effectively with all levels within the company
- Proficient in standard business and marketing tools (e.g. Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, HubSpot/other CRM systems, Radius/other ERP systems, ClickUp)
Physical Demands:
- This role is primarily sedentary in nature. Sitting or standing for extended periods of time. Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and other computing equipment. The employee frequently is required to talk and to hear. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Exerts 10 to 20 pounds of force occasionally.
